they are tiny..Anyway I aint having much luck with them now with maggots..
Are they too small or what?
What sizes are you all using for perch, blue gills stock trout,etc..

3mm.  For gills and crappie in shallow water.  Deeper water i go up to 4mm.   I am using plastics more then live bait for a couple of years now. I also use lead for slower falls in shallow water. Lead also comes in many more sizes and designs which all help me catch more fish.

I use 4mm almost exclusively. 3mm if I need to downsize for negative fish. 5mm if I'm fishing fast moving schools in deep water.

I catch many nice gills on jigging spoons. I always start with a 1/16oz or 1/10oz spoon before resorting to using jigs. Cuts out alot of small fish. If I have to go to jigs I start with a frostee/demon style and work my way down to small tungsten flys as necessary. I'm a fan of larger presentations.

I like 3mm teardrop with a small plastic or 5mm with a large plastic, but I mostly use a 3mm demon style tungsten with a single spike hooked through the middle. Has a really nice motion and works better than a horizontal in weeds.

I use 1/32 oz and sometimes 1/16 oz with a white multi legged plastic tipped with a mousee for perch and crappies.

Same here.

Normally 4mm tungsten for panfish but I do believe in bigger bait - bigger fish.  Was using a 5mm last weekend.   Bite was good - about 100 fish in half a day.  A buddy was using a smaller jig and was throwing 5 short fish back for my 1.

The smallest jig you can buy is huge compared to most of the things a panfish eats.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

That’s is very true. Although, I have seen some monster scuds come up through the hole before. Big enough to use as bait. Still, that’s only about 3/8 of an inch maximum. But that’s just one thing they eat. Almost all other things except maybe minnow/fry are near microscopic.

I’ve been having pretty decent luck this season by putting a small (size 14-16 is small to me, you could go smaller) nymph/scud pattern fly 6”-12” above my tungsten jig. I tie the fly on with a surgeons loop and leave a long tag end then tie on my tungsten jig with another surgeons loop. They can really suck in that fly though so be prepared with a pick or some hemos to remove the hook.
