Had the day off and a bucket full of shiners so of course north I went after dropping the fiancé off at work. Returned to one of my usual ponds, same one as yesterday and fished 9am-2:45. Decided on a whim to try a spot I had never tried before. Off to a great start with 3 flag, 3 fish by the time my 5th tilt was in the water. It was pretty foggy when I set up so I didn’t spread out too far. I had the whole pond to myself most of the day except for the bald eagle that stopped by. Action was steady all day usually with two flags at a time. I had 20 flags, landed 12 bass and 4 pickerel. All the pickerel were in the 2lb range but on the shorter side, the bass varied from dink to 4lbs5oz. Most of the bass were over 1.5lbs. I decide to pick up when I did because the ice was getting pretty soft. 5.5” of ice that I poked through with two hits of the chisel. So, what song does the fat lady sing?
