Safe ice help
« on: Jan 22, 2020, 05:25 PM »
I live in Boston and am looking for safe ice. Willing to travel a hour. Would really like some trout but open to catch anything. Just want to drill some holes and spend some time out on the ice. Thanks for any tips in advance!

Lake Massabesic is within an hour of Boston.  I *heard* there was safe ice.  Plenty of people fish for trout there.

Beaver lake in derry had some safe ice and I believe some finless browns.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day teach him how to fish and he will sit there and drink all day!!

With a name like Fat4ss, I would wait until there’s a foot of ice.

City of Concord, Everett Ice Area.  But just for the record they frown upon seeing ice augers......

good to hear people are at lease "willing" to drive a whole hour to go to peoples spots... lucky for us! (sarcasm noted)

Reminds me of a joke I heard once.

A pretty petite young blonde decides She wants to try ice fishing, she goes to  the local tackle shop where they set her up with the finest of gear, on her way home. She  stops at a place she knows has safe ice, after drilling a hole she hears a voice from above " there are no fish under the ice"... she thinks this is an intervention and relocates. Drills another hole, only to hear the message again, she moves and begins to drill, the voice comes again. More annoyed this time" this is the the rink management there are no fish under the ice: " sorry couldn't help mysef..

Safe ice doesn't exist. It's farcical.

Are you Lakes Region diehards willing to share if your ice thickness is increasing this week?  Wondering if warm days and cold nights are adding or losing ice.  I know every water body is different.  Thanks
