Anyone been up here lately and check the ice?  I fished it once many years ago but want to go back up cause i hear there is a good pike population.

Hi Walleye - i havent been up myself, but from previous years I would think there's likely some fishable ice while it is unlikely the entire lake is frozen for a few more weeks.  If you haven't visited GMR in a few years I would warn you that unless the marina area is frozen to walk on, anywhere else on the lake will require a hike down a seriously steep incline with your gear.  Last year my 4 visits necessitated walking down the slopes and I'm not going this year until Im sure it's an easier entry.  I usually target lakers so I cannot speak to the pike fishing.

Drove by today, shes 85% capped.  Very low water, only the deep hole out in front of the north parking area is open water.

I wouldn't go there if you're after pike, There's better places to go if that's what you're after

I know some ppl have been on the inlet for sure.  What about the rest of the lake? The BIL is coming in from DSM this weekend -- I need to put him on a big trout so hopefully Antero and some lakers!

Heading over today. Hope to pull up at least 1/8 the laker quota.
