18 degrees in Sandy Lake at 8:00 am the high today was 34 degrees.  They slowed the dam outflow way down the water most have dropped 3 inch overnight. Down by the dam it was 3/4 of the way if not more across the lake.   Petterson told me that the water in the stumps up at the bridge was locked down.  I checked the shore ice at launch #1 and it was 1 inch but it only went out about 10 to 15 feet.  I would guess by next weekend it should be pretty close. (6 to 8 days)

Its north of Cochranton just off of 173.  keep your eyes open for the local coming out of the bar right next to the lake and driving their trucks on the ice it happen at least once a year, but its a little early for that.  If your looking for muskie Tamarack is right next door and its loaded full of muskie.

Hopefully there won't be a lot of snow or wind to mess things up. I will let you know if any thing changes.

The lake had 1 inch on at the shoreline at launch 1.  This weekend if everything goes well.  The stumps may be fishable by mid week.

I got out on Wilhelm at launch 1 this morning it was only one step but I didn't go in.  The ice was cracking a little but I didn't get wet.  There is a small spot in the middle down below launch 1 that is still open.  I would guess the stumps have to be fishable by Wed. or Thur.  Taking the auger in the morning will know more then.

Was at Wilhelm at 11:00A.M. Shorelines are real soft and snow is insulating the ice. We are supposed to get 2"to4" of new snow. The temperatures are also suppose to drop for 3 days. So will just have to wait and see what happens. It seems desperation has set in here. At the marina there was 3 shantys set up on the docks. Apparently they are fishing off the edge of the docks out of their shantys. American ingenuity strikes again!!       Mike

Will Wilhelm make ice with snow on it; since it's supposed to be frigid at week's end? Really want to come up for the weekend but might have to wait till Monday to take a vacation day!  Come on 3 1/2 inches!!!!!!!
