There's 10" of ice all over here in NEPA.  A few days in the upper 30's or low 40's won't hurt none.  10"?   come on!  It's not gonna be 60 and raining!

Ice will stay as long as no rain comes.  It may not make any more ice, but nightime lows are to be below freezing every night, so anything that melts will refreeze at night.  It may actually help out those lake that still have snow cover on them.  If you can get rid of that junk on top we can make more when the cold returns.
Bring on the ice!!!!!!!  <br />

Yeah! I'll be able to set up my shanty just for picture taking purposes!  I won't have to hide in it to stay warm.  Maybe we will set it up on Saturday just to have a restroom on the ice!  LOL!

Wish I could say that, tomorrow I may not need the heater, but am hauling out the propane stove, frying pan, etc.

Lots of slush on the ice today, doesn't help that it hasn't gone below freezing here the last two nights. It would  be a bummer to lose it now. :'(

Ran into some bad ice on a pond this afternoon. Early this morning had good ice on bigger water, def lost an inch to two in comparison to last week. I think this rain is really gonna hurt us. Hope the cold comes back fnally got on eyes early this morning.

I don't think there is anything to worrie about, just a typical January thaw.we really didnt have one the past 2 years so I guess were due.the lakes in the higher elevations will all be fine its the spots that are usually close to home that lose ice first, for me anyway.with the exception of 1 place and thats at work.and only because the res. gets very little sun and holds ice very well as long as we dont get rain.my job relies on cold weather and have become an amature meteorologist over the past 19 years and I dont think the ice is going anywhere soon.dont let a couple of warm days get you down.how yould you like to be me I havent been on the ice yet this year.but hope to go next week so cheer up it aint so bad

Raining here in the Wyoming Valley...the only bright side is it washing all the salt/ ash off the roads so I don't have to wash my truck every time I drive 3 blocks

Freezing rain/ snow in most of the Poconos according to the few people I've talked to  ;D ;D

3/4 of an in. and coming down steadily in the Southeast. The feeders streams will likely over run the ice on many lakes. It may not take all the ice, but even if it does refreeze the conditions will be way more unpredictable. No cold weather listed in the seven day either. >:( Hoping the higher elevations will get mostly frozen precipitation, cause it isn't looking good around here.

only thing we can try to look forward to is Feb. it is usually one of our coldest months and it might refreeze. Keep your fingers crossed because i know im not ready to turn in all the hardwater gear for the boat yet. I just bought a new shanty and only got to use it 3 times so far! lol

WNEP 16 says there could be 1.5 inches of rain sunday into monday and very windy.   the rain probably wont hurt the ice but the wind bloing it over the ice will for sure
