plowed lake access
« on: Jan 31, 2018, 08:30 AM »
I tried a search and couldn't find an answer. Yesterday I checked out two DNR boat launch sites and neither was plowed. The snow ridges were way too high for a 4wd truck and snowmobile trailer to go over and park. Road not wide enuff to park on the side. Is this just Sawyer County or the whole of N WI? These lake accesses cost a bunch to build and would cost almost nothing for a truck to plow enough for a few trucks to park. ???

it would thousands to plow every single boat launch in the state. better to try lakes with homes and businesses on them rather than some of the back country ones if your looking for access. otherwise be prepared to shovel or walk.

Even the big major lakes that have the landing roads plowed still sometimes get big ice heaves at the landing that makes driving out almost impossible. I have seen the ice buckled up 3 ft high. Most lakes that the snowmobile trail runs through the boat landings are good to go.
