Ice is getting sloppy on top. Shore is getting shaky and there is 4 to 5 inches of slop on top in spots.

I realized this week that I dropped one of the poles to my hut somewhere on mayville bay.  About 3' aluminum pole. I went off and on near the gazebo.  I plan to go back to look for myself tmrw.  Just wondered if anyone had seen it or picked it up.  I will report ice conditions in the evening.  Hope i can fish or at least find my pole.
Please pm me with any info.
THANKS
Be safe.

Found the pole in the deep snow and big rocks on the bank right in front of the Gazebo.  The fishing was slow but the ice was nice.  About 8" half white half black.  A mixed bag of a dozen keeper panfish between 5-10pm.  Plenty of 'entertainment' on the ice tonight.  If the forcast holds up we may have at least a few more days.  There are some weird areas and washout holes forming so be careful going out and take a GOOD light to get back in.
Thanks to anyone that kept an eye out for my hut pole.
Have fun and stay safe.

Check out the new Infisherman magazine page 15 Adventures. It mentions the outstanding ice fishing for walleye up to 8 pounds and perch up to 14 inches in Chatauqua Lake. What a load of bull, dink perch and walleye through the ice are far and few between.i would hope that such a reputable magazine would get  accurate honest information to share with its readers and NOT some BS from some local business owner looking to make a few bucks. I can assure you that this local contact will never get my business. Honesty is the best policy!

I've actually heard the complete opposite from a local of the lake, not saying any names but seems a bit crazy to me... I have to ask how often do u fish the lake???

I log countless hours in on Chautauqua lake its my favorite lake, yes there are a lot of dink there but I slam some nice 12-13 some pushing 14 inch perch every year! My old lady caught the biggest crappie I have ever seen off mayville last year. Walleye is a hit or miss, but can be very productive at times although…. I end up hooking up with more musky than walleye at times. Honestly for perch fishing ON Chautauqua its all about lure size "IMO" bigger seems to be better keeps the dinks off.

I agree In Fisherman really exagerated the fishing. This is not a lake I would make a trip to from out of state. You would be much better off planning a trip to the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Out there you really do get big perch CONSISTENTLY. If the magazine would have mentioned the gill and crappie fishing they would have been closer to the truth.

In Fisherman has a nice article on beaded spoons for perch and walleyes. It's something that might be worth exploring.
