New area, new lakes.
« on: Oct 01, 2021, 12:19 PM »
Getting to be the season so start getting bait tank together...
I just moved from Spencer where i have lived my whole life (and fished) I had good waters all around me..i could target most species within 10 minutes of my house. giant carp, pike, golden shiners, slab crappies, eater perch etc etc.
Now i am in Lancaster (Near the Chu)
On my drives around im eyeballing smaller ponds in search for bait. i found a few that look promising, but i wanted to reach out on here...
If anyone is interested in learning how to catch bait (open water, or ice) Ill give you a lesson. If you know a pond, thats great but i dont expect anyone to give up a good bait pond. Looking for anyone who wants to help locate some bait. Sometimes even knowing there is bait in a pond isnt enough. it is productive to get a couple bodies out there with chum to find what area they are cruising. I have cameras and flashers and all that to help.
PM if you are local and wanna hunt down free bait for the winter

I did see this, then i got sidetracked trying to figure out where THE oxbow is that guys on here fish...obviously different. i always get sidetracked on google maps, end up hours away from my house looking at puddles.
Hopefully by end of month im dangling hali jigs under a slip bobber

I'm looking forward to catching some big goldies again this year. Perfected it last season. To the point I had to throw some back. They are tough to keep healthy without proper filtration etc.

Keith
set up a good size tank and make a filtration system out of a bucket. Those Goldies will last the winter if the water stays cool.

Wow!  I can't seem to get goldies.  Care to trade for some fallfish?  I can get plenty of them.

I also have a 55 gallon plastic drum on it's side with a pool pump and 5 gallon bucket with media for a filter.  Aerator and a aquarium heater is all you need.  Keeps fish all winter.

“ make a filtration system out of a bucket.”

That works for my 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank. YouTube got me the help I needed.
I plan to live forever. So far so good!

Yup. I have a 100 gallon live stock tank I picked up at tractor supply. Works out great.
