I understand what went wrong with the fatheads last year, but does any one know why they never made a return? After destroying the contaminated ponds why did they not rebuild them?
-
The state will not allow them to be imported at this point. I am honestly surprised they didn’t come down a LOT harder on hog island, since they control the entire state bait supply, and clearly hadn’t been doing a great job of verifying what they were receiving.

So there's no fatheads? Are they carrying something else in it's place? We use them for perch fishing sometimes, as well as for trout.

Last year they were replaced with mini shiners. I noticed mini shiners in a bait tank this year, which IMO seem to be a bait I would request instead of fatheads.
I talked with my local bait store and heard that fatheads will be available soon..

I miss suckers.

FYI, a new source of fatheads has been approved for Hog Island Wholesale, and they should have them in the next week for distribution to baitshops throughout Vermont.

Suckers really were the best.

Every time I walk into a bait shop there is at least one giant sucker.

I think that goes for all of us.

There will be Fatheads delivered to bait shops this week if they choose to sell them!
-
Some bait shops will be selling fatheads by this weekend, some got their stock on yesterday.
