Thank you, Eaten by Limestone. I'll continue posting I suppose. Maybe someone has the answer -- How is ice between Fowler and the point across lake (where the final house is on north side of lake). I have been fishing this spot for years have never seen less than 12 inches of ice there. Temp will be dropping down this weekend but I'll be there fishing from Thur - Sun.
maybe more than 12" north of the narrows and away from moving water, much less ice from the narrows south....
How is ice thickness out of Adirondack?
Are rainbow smelt the main forage in schoon and most the lakes up there? Buying some lures for my trip up there
yep, and those smelt tend to run on the small end of the spectrum.
as long as you guys don't get too close to the narrows, you should be at least ok for walking.
thank you for the advice once again. Any recommendations where to stay or where not to stay? Don't need anything fancy.
Any snow on the ice?
Same story for me today. Had one nice Laker on early, rest of the day lookers and chasers. Buckshot spoons, white tubes, soft plastics, other spoons, smelt oil scent, nothing would make em commit.
Got skunked today, but had my opportunities. Lots of chasers but I couldn't get them to commit. Any ideas?
its the way schroon is, the jigging bite gets tougher and tougher as the ice year progresses...actually that is how most lake trout lakes go, jigging wise. Not to say there isn't a double digit day left out there, but at this point in the season, I would be happy with 3 or 4 most days, taking a 0 at Schroon is never out of the question. This is the time of year to increase your odds and spread some tipups if you are so inclined.
Hey, I know it's a freaky year but, has anyone heard whether or not if they're having the Fish & game contest the first weekend of March?
