Watch yourself anywhere in the Hague area.  That was all open water with a strong north wind yesterday. On Wednesday 2/6 there was a skim of ice forming in Hague.  The wind quickly took care of that.   I did not check the Forrest Bay area, but 12-18 inches of snow will make it just about impossible to go out anywhere with new ice.

I'm Planning on fishing Hague in Forest Bay just north of Friends point this weekend. Last weekend there was 3-4 inches of ice off forest bay with the middle of the lake wide open.By Sunday the whole lake had frozen over again.  I was hoping for everything to be frozen over by this weekend with 5 inches of ice. Is that too hopeful? Any northern lake observation would be great. Most people don't report that far north. Has anyone seen or been there? I'm concerned about the weight of 12" of snow on the ice.

Thanks
As of wed the lake in Hague was WIDE open from Arcady Bay as far north as the Waltonian islands just north of the village.

Cool pic  to bad you didn't get a pic when the water shot or of the cracks and tgs518 ( Sherril ) needed to change his underwear.     Fun day out on the ice.    Hope this snow doesn't mess everything up
I fished yesterday and one of those times my bucket must have moved 3 or 4 inches. Felt like an earthquake!!!

The wind did a huge number on the hague area.  Ice that i was fishing on the opposite side of the lake a few days ago with 5" of ice is gone.  Took out alot of ice to the south towards huletts  to o'dell island.  Looked open as far north as Rogers Rock.   I would stick a fork in the hague area for this year.

I was out tuesday, and there was a couple times the ice shifted violently and pushed up somewhere, because it sounded like cannon fire, you could hear it echoing off the mountains down the lake.

Fun isn't it Mike, it weeds out the men from the boys. We had 1 guy leave when he saw water shoot up 6' or so, like Combsey said, he probably had to change his shorts. 1 guy wouldn't even come out, I think when he saw the bottom, it was looking through a plate glass window, he was a little intimidated! ::)

very cool pic. I remember about 10 years ago I went down to Otsego on first ice we were on 4-5" of crystal clear ice standing over 140' of water and watching lakers come up from the depths and  barrel rolling at the hole and being able to watch it. no snow what so ever. very cool, but still gave me some butt pucker, lol

Yeah it was awesome.   Went out to the flats with icewander and got to see probally the biggest laker I've seen traveling just under the ice.   Funny thing was that it stardled me and I scared it back to the depths.

I think since the snow is turning over to a granular powder is going to help quite a bit. 20mph+ sustained winds dont hurt either.  ;)
