how far north for ice to spear?

  I went out today , sunday Jan., 15. holly area , near Flint has no safe ice. I would like to go north , for a couple days during the week of the 20th. any idea how far up? Do not want to cross the bridge , hopefully , and hour or 2 from Flint , thanks

Houghton has ice, mitchell has ice, lake st helen has ice, all viable options, lake st helen has no size limit on pike, or at least never used too may want to double check

So its 5 total pike of any size but only one of over 24" weird

Yes it is, houghton has clearer water, id bet st helen woukd produce more fish but i could be wrong.... Lemme know how you do either way
