I need to get up to Newfound this year. You guys sound like you have a blast. Awesome detailed reports on this thread as well. My buddy told me its a great fishing lake. I'm new to NH as of 2017 but not new to Ice fishing. Born and raised a masshole but in the western part of the state. I'm used to targeting pike, warm water species, and stocked trout on smaller lakes. I've always wanted to try jigging lakers out of a big lake. I'm getting deployed in January but will be back early March. How long does Newfound keep it's ice? I know it varies year to year but just in general.

First off, Thank you for serving. To answer your question, you can usually fish until mid March, and on a really cold winter right up until April. Check out the thread when you get back and post if you want to get out on the ice.

Be safe.

Had diner in the bobhouse tonight, Ribeye with Sautéed Onions and a bit too much garlic. Got that bobhouse cooking smell going on. Tippin had dinner in his house, I believe Ribeye with Shrimp on the griddle.

Nice night, cold 3F but no windy.

Getting ready for the 1st.....

New Years Eve! As one season ends, another begins!
With over 40k views, 700+ posts and 25 pages, it's time to close out this Newfound Circus Season 2017 thread. It's been a ton of fun posting up pictures / videos, updating conditions and daily events, chatting, laughing and then re-living some of the adventures from this past season / year 2017.

I realized looking back, We seem to pack in a full seasons worth even though the season might not be full. To the Newfound Circus, I appreciate being able to take part in this very special life experience. When the world seems to be chaotic, confusing and a bit lost, The Newfound Circus for me is always a place to retreat, escape reality, laugh and breathe. In a way it's like re-charging my batteries.
I look forward to every opportunity to get out on the ice and participate and i look forward to the next experiences whatever they might be. One thing i do know for sure is that working together we can get through anything the season brings.

As always thank you all for contributing to this thread, keeping it interesting. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as i have and again thanks for putting up with us stringing you along for the ride.

Cheers!
