Title: Northwest CT
Post by: PerchMan45 on Feb 25, 2022, 07:28 PM
I am making the trek out to the hills tomorrow after my mishap at Mashapaug this afternoon. I was thinking Winchester Lake or one of the ponds in that area if I can’t get on there.

Does anybody know if they plow the boat launch at Winchester and if they don’t what launches in the area do they plow? I am relatively unfamiliar with the area so any information is appreciated.

I've never been to Winchester when the boat launch lot wasn't plowed but no guarantees.  If there is no ice there, there is no ice anywhere.

Still had 8-9” today. No issues getting on.

First time I’ve fished Winchester, fairly happy with the results for not knowing the lake.

6 Cookie cutter Pickerel all between 12 and 16 inches (blah), a 16” bass, and a 19” baby Pike that didn’t set off the flag. No action jigging.

I was there yesterday. Edges were fine where I got on at O'hare's. 8" of black ice everywhere I drilled. About 2 inches of crusty snow on top. That being said, I always bring a spud and check each time I head out, I never take anyone's word for it! Be safe and tight lines!
