havent been out there personally because the fishing is crap. most local waters have about a 3 inch layer on top with 5-7 inch pocket of slush and another 8 inches of ice under that. Have not seen any machines on the ice in over a month. in fact the launch they plowed a pile of snow at the entrance to the lake so im not sure if its even possible getting any machines on the ice.

It is the first few weeks of ice season. After that its over fished and 5 guys can fish their limit of lines for one or  two fish all day. So bad the state stocks about a dozen or more just for the colby classic so people have something to catch. And every year the winning fish are the tagged ones they put in the few days before.

Anyone know how the colby classic went today??

Slow fishing.  The leader up to Sunday was a 2lb trout.   Not sure if anyone caught anything bigger in the afternoon.  Salmon were not biting,  we caught a few rainbows and small browns.  The perch bite was great in the early morning before the traffic started on the ice.

Ice was good,  about a inch of snow on top of 8” of white ice and 6-8 inches of black under that .  Trucks and cars out there all weekend,  very little slush, just around launch and parts of mid lake.

I was actually marking them , large targets not far under the ice early in the morning before first light.  So were other guys around the point off Moir rd. Just swam by jigs , had no interest in biting.  I’m sure they will be around for ice out .

Just wondering if there is any fishable ice left on Colby after the deluge on Christmas? I wanted to take a trip up this week if there was safe ice? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
