So is Tops safe to shop at, or are we going to have to resort to hunting and gathering our own food?  lol

It wasn't too bad. The toilet paper aisle was cleaned out which I thought was hilarious. I actually remembered my bags this time, too.

They do try to get them back into the lake but not always possible. A couple years ago they did change the rules to "no pike to be entered under 35 inches". There are some pretty good pike fishermen on the lake who release  just about everything they catch, unless it is a PB.
When I worked at the bait shop, we had a local contest each month and took pike off of it because we would have people bringing pike in, in the low 20" range...h2l

Goose, we made it another year. You better hope that the walleye fishing is better this winter than it was this past summer. I had a tough year, or maybe it was just 2020. I saw the skim ice down to SI the other day but pretty sure 20+ inches of snow didn't help it much. Don't rush it and be safe...h2l

Heard it's pretty skimp around those parts so far, Westchestericeman. Wouldn't wanna risk it just yet. Can't wait to get some good thick ice, some lattes, dip, and kick back in the shanty lookin for flags! Stay safe.

H2l, i don’t plan on trying to fish the Northville end for a while, that snow really did a number on it. However after the storm, the Edinburg side froze up beautifully, had 2 inches of clear black yesterday,we will see what today brings.

Goose, agree, this end doesn't look good. That early skim of ice and then the snow didn't help.,,h2l

I’m up on the north end, coves are frozen over, still looks open in the channel.

My brother has around 2” at his camp on the south end.

I think both areas must’ve been open when it snowed.

I think we can be thankful that most of the lake was open before this snow as it would have messed up all of it.

If you don't know the GSL well do not take this as a green light to get out there!!!!! Goose knows where he is fishing. Also why risk your life on the "Dead Sea". Be safe! Flags up!

I can't wait to get on the ice and chew some Cope but it looks like the Grinch who Stole the Ice is going to dump 2 inches of rain on us for Christmas. Hopefully a deep freeze right after and we can get out there before January. Mohawk Valley flags up!

Have not fished Sacandaga enough to know it so hoping for some advice. Where should I head if going out of Sport Island Pub and the same for Edinburg?

Edinburg where / what? It's a big area, on both sides of the lake. Could you narrow it down a little?

In stead of Sport Island Pub, I suggest The Regulating District Offices, on Bunker Hill Rd. They have no problem with fishermen parking there. Sometimes, the beach is plowed and is great access to the lake. Go straight out to Deer Island. Anywhere around it is good walleye fishing and I have caught a few large pike there. Tight Lines!

Depends on the water level. Usually, yes. You don't have to go all the way to the island. Anywhere in that bay is usually good for walleye. I've also gotten perch, bass (open water) and a huge pike there (several years ago). Try the center of the bay to start. Then move around. I used to walk out to the far left tip of the island. Now, I have a machine. I'm old.

Thanks Hardwater for Deer Island tip.   Edinburg was thinking around the Batchellerville bridge area.

Right around the bridge is sometimes pretty "iffy". And parking is a problem. There isn't really any legal parking. Once it snows heavily, plows make it difficult to find a space. Some folks like the I Go Inn, on Southshore Rd., north of the bridge. But again, parking is a problem and that hill is a doozy.

Delta ,you are allowed to park in the pull off by the batchellerville bridge at the town beach. Pretty decent spot if you are there at the right time. Just watch where the current from the creek comes out, and around the bridge pilings
