Ice rescue
« on: Dec 30, 2017, 10:13 PM »
I read on a post on Facebook that there was a water rescue at Deepcrake Lake today. Don’t know any details though. Stay safe out there guys, new ice can be tricky. Hope all involved is safe.

Thanks, Glendale bridge would be considered the main lake body in my opinion. No way I’d venture out on it at early ice. I’d say some of the sheltered coves probably have 4+ inches of safe ice. With it being New Years weekend and the main body having ice cover I’d say there will be out-of-towers thinking it’s safe for snowmobiles. Very dangerous combo when you add some alcohol.

Yes, guys be careful...  I fished deep creek yesterday. Had good ice, then the spud would easily blow through not 10 feet away....early ice can be great fishing. But spud, spud, spud. It kinda bothers me seeing how many people will just walk out past me when I've already spudded around and I tell them it's sketchy. Like, really? I tell you... Then say you go through. And you would still want my help getting you out....  Come on. Go buy a spud. Biggest you can manage. And use it! Some yesterday were shocked when mine went right through in one drop so close to their setup. Is strength and thickness are NOT the same thing! A decent spud doesn't need to be expensive, just heavy and always in hand when walking around.
