What happens when the ice is gone
« on: Mar 18, 2019, 09:48 AM »
Morning all
Just wondering what happens on this forum once the ice is done for summer. I know that in my mind I
am switching gears already and getting fired up for open water fishing. RuralMT started getting me going on spring Pike.
I wish there was some Pike opportunities close to home however. The powers that be like to kill all the Pike
in the Missouri right next to home. It doesn't take much to get me going when it comes to any kind of fishing.
Do you guys keep in touch at all during open water or do you take a break till next ice. Just wondering, I have enjoyed
the forum a lot this winter.  Thanks

Ken

My Fish Finder, sister site to here, not sure how active Montana boards are though, Idaho boards look like a ghost town.

Site pretty well dies out until December. Haven't tried My Fish Finder.
Hardwater fisherman since 2014. All opinions subject to change as experience increases.

I signed up years ago, but just started looking at it over the weekend. Not sure if it's as good as this site.

Minimal activity on MFF. Never as busy as this site 🤷🏻‍♂️

I tried it a few years ago, it was pretty dead. I have a lot of non-fishing related stuff to do in spring, summer, and fall so I can't blame folks for not posting much at all during that time.

well... a lot of us are seasonal construction... farmer type guys...lot more idle time when its dark..cold and icy....open water fishing is different in  so many ways.....not suprising that there is less action in the summer months...8 hrs light vs 16?....says it all....

I am in the same boat actually as I farm all summer. But still have to make time to stand on the bank and chuck
some big hardware till the shoulders ache, which doesn't take as many hours as it used to.

http://www.bigfishtackle.com

They have a forum here that seems to be a little more active than MFF, at least for Idaho.

Most of us go back to working 60 hrs a week and have no fishing life to speak of.
Catch and release into bacon grease
