Yea, listen to the silence, oh I can't, I have tinnitus, ringing of the ears, it is so load most of the time it keeps me awake. Backround noise helps. Being outside on the ice I don't hear it as much.

I like the silence too....Just thinking of listening to nothing with your feet up on your snowmobile basking in the sun, when all of a sudden you hear your flag rip through the water as a 5lb speck takes your bait.  ;D

Oh, oh, your talking about the silence on the board.
Must be nice for you mods this time of year when things start to slow a little. ;D

As Moderators, it is sad to see the season end. BUT it gives our delete fingers time to heal up. LOL !!!

Ice/Surf kinda the same here. Thankfully, I don't suffer from tinnitus, but a life in construction means I don't hear so good anymore. My wife says I've always had this problem, but I keep telling her there is a difference between hearing and listening, eh.

On the topic here, it is nice to have the drama and BS of the 'busy season' over with for another year. I enjoy the off season IS more than I do the busy season IS.

2 thoughts .....    1st is the vexilar masks it very well ....  so i need to ice fish all the time  ;D

2 - go trial a hearing aid or aids .....  they make a world of difference in the impact of the tinnitus ;D

Yea, that's what hasppened to me. heavy construction, jack hammering, drilling, & so fourth. I retired 2 yrs. ago this July, the best thing I've done for myself. I get more time for hunting & fishing.

The ice shanty is the Strongest, Most Used, Fastest Growing ice fishing site on the World Wide Web, repeat questions and a few lazy people are the nature of the beast with this site ! Most of the new guys catch on pretty quickly and learn how the site works as far as info goes, some on the other hand, can't be helped with 5 lbs of Dynamite and a pointed shovel !
With a membership of over 30,000 people it is almost impossible to ask a question about icefishing that hasn't been asked before ! I try to keep in mind what it was like when I first joined the site and try to take everything with a grain of salt !
We have roughly about 7 1/2 months of relative peace and quiet before the Chaos and Mayhem ensues once again, I plan to make the most of it and enjoy myself, just my .02 !
