Trophy strike 120V , is this a joke? shaft snapped
« on: Jan 01, 2019, 10:27 AM »
got a trophy strike 120V ice auger recently, went out ice fishing for couple of times only, it is a powerful machine, was cutting nice and battery last long (keep it warm and last even longer).

for 3rd time I went out this morning and on my 2nd hole (8~10" ice only) the whole auger head snapped right off like nothing and bent the last part of the screw.

I am very disappointed, for the price I paid for it, this should have never happened. I wish I bought ION instead of trophy strike.

I am going to contact them to see how they are going to deal with the issue.

That is a shame. I am sure if you give them a chance they will make it good. And if not I would think they might as well close down now.

It was a very quick response from Trophy Strike. They called me on Jan 2nd and told me the new auger will be shipped and I will have it within 10 days since I am in Canada! So far very great customer service.
Hope they fixed the design on this one.

Glad to hear it! You have to expect a few teething problems when you buy into a new product , seems to be doubly so with electric augers. The important part is how the company chooses to deal with it. Ice gator had some real issues, handled them poorly and is no longer around. Strikemaster made a mess of their first design for their current electric to the point that they recalled the whole production run, but they took care of their existing customers and people are snapping up the current ones. Ion had issues with the flite design when they remodeled the ion but quickly sent out replacements to people when the issue was identified.

The fact that trophy strike got back to you so quickly and already shows design improvements speaks volumes for them in a positive light. Keep up the good work guys!

That was not ions problem. The problem they had was the bottom end of the units weren’t coated properly causing ice and snow buildup. And that was a new blade design after three years of production.
