Just wanted to post this chart in anticipation of first Ice. Obviously this does not account for numerous factors such as wind and size of the body of water. Just thought it was a neet idea anyhow.

What chart?
-
Cool post red, I think someone had a similar chart last year, and if not anything else...it gives us hope! 8)
-
Come on single digits
-
Hopin to get out saturday myself. Thursday/thursday night will make or break it with temps looking anywhere from -5 to 10 depending on location. As long as the pond your looking at has a layer of ice before thursday you might be able to make it out.
-
supose to get in the single digits thursday night!!! ;D
-
Couple days of single digits and calm winds, and it's GAME ON!!
-
I can make a couple of bags worth if I have room in the freezer. ;D
The main thing is the wind. If the water is choppy, the ice can't form uniformly.
Bring on the calm and the cold !
-
Unfortunately, any ice that already existed probably has a bunch of snow on it...causing slow (and poor) ice-making.
-
Just went and checked the pond I had lined up for saturday. Small pond, less than 75 acres here in york county and it had 3.5 inches of ice 15 ft out from shore where I tested it. Cant wait for saturday!

Great have at it... Be safe.. :)

Not to pry red but I live in york county too and I was just curious what town this pond is in so I can track the ice growth down to a science. Thanks a bunch!
-
Ill say its more toward the north western part of york county then the middle.
-
I believe I might know what pond your talkin about, but I'm not gonna give it away on ya. I'm gettin my ice stuff brought up this weekend, O/T here but does anybody know if springvale hardware has started to sharpen auger blades yet? Thanks once again
