Master Angler fish
« on: Apr 05, 2015, 02:57 PM »
I've already caught my five species for the Master angler program this year. The five species that I've landed so far that have qualified are pickerel, bluegill, yellow perch, white perch and now my 10 inch pumpkinseed. Got my pin for last year and I can't wait to get the one for this year!

I've also caught some nice largemouths and smallmouth that would qualify, except you can't submit when the species is out of season.
What Master Angler fish have you guys caught?
Tight lines, PB.

Nice fishing!
I haven't participated in the master angler program yet, though I really like the idea.  The fish I've caught this year so far that would qualify are: crappie, pumpkinseed, bluegill, smelt, and smallmouth bass.  I haven't caught a really big perch in a while!

I'm hoping to get some big bullpout soon.  I'll be looking for a big brook trout before too long, and other big trout.  I've never even caught a keeper laker.

Thanks guys for the comments. Troutcrazy, I would love to catch a master angler brookie, but around my house there are only smaller brooks and streams that don't carry very big fish. bootstrap, thanks for offering your knowledge, Your area would be a little bit of a drive from our area, but not to bad.

Yeah, man, the big brookies are hard to come by in this state!
The only place I caught one that big was in the NEK, in a lake.  Barely over 15".  It was one of those few lakes in VT with a slot limit.  It was a wild fish.  I kept it, and it was delicious, but if I caught another one like that I'd probably release it.  It was special.  I floated around in my canoe for about 7 hours trying to catch that fish, and it was my only fish that day.  Yup... trout... crazy...  ;)

I looked at the trophy fish stocking schedules for brook trout and it seems like all the rivers and ponds are far away from Jericho. I would love to catch a 15+ inch brookie!

Brook trout - best areas you will not hear about on a public forum like crappie..
I am PM'ing you a couple ideas.
