Walleye is still catch and release, however they did start a draw/quota system last year for three lakes in Alberta.Pigeon was one of the lakes where you could apply (3.00 fee) to keep one fish from Pigeon (10.00 fee). I still love chasing and catching walleye more that I do eating them so catch and release was great for me. Unfortunately a lot of the huge fish that were there a few years back are mostly all gone (from poaching mostly I believe).I still keep looking, as I still remember the fantastic fishing that was available only 3-4 years ago.

That eye in the top left is completely different color.  Did ya catch him shallower than the rest?

Always wear clean underwear, cuz ya never know when the paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off.

These eyes weren't caught through the ice but they were caught within the last 2 weeks.

This one was 33 inches, 12.5 pounds and released.

This one was 31 inches, 9 pounds and released.

I caught this one when I was by myself and snapped a pic of her in the water.  I ended up boating her and she measured just under 32 inches and weighed in at just over 10 pounds.  Also released.

i LOVE to eat walleye natwild. The fish that you see on my stringer are just a very very small % of my total catch for the season. I usually only eat fish in early spring. The rest of my fish caught are thrown back for next years catch. You should try keeping some walleye next time your out, they actually taste pretty good! If you need any recipes, send me an email.
