Little Buddy Heater
« on: Jan 05, 2014, 08:54 AM »
Having a problem with my little buddy heater, I have tried three different bottles, (and I know they have fuel cause they work in the big buddy), It has spark and it just won't light. Is there something I can do to check out for blockage in the lines or something?

There was a write up on cleaning the pilot with the Portable heater. Perhaps that will work on your little buddy. Take a q-tip and pull off the end of it so it will fit into the pilot hole and use some alcohol to clean it about 2" and then use a can of air and put it into the pilot about 2" and blow it out. Not sure about the Little buddy but if it has a pilot like the Portable this will work. On the Portable you have to open the metal wiring that covers it.

I own 2 buddy heaters 1 little buddy and 1 the original. I have never had problems with the original but the little buddy I had to take it apart twice in 3 years to clean it. Not sure if this was just a design issue or dumb luck. Kinda weird that I never had problems with the original that I had for almost 3 times as long as little buddy.

May have had a spider crawl in the tube and make a web or something like that. That's why I store all my heaters in at least two garbage bags each. Keeps them clean and trouble free.

Can't hear anything as far as propane when in the pilot mode either. Is that normal? I only use it a few times a year and keep track of all this stuff :-\ Should I hear something when pressing into pilot mode and hitting ignitor button?

I guess I'm confused you have the little buddy heater which has a light button which you hold in and wait 30 seconds with pilot lit and then you slowly release. You talked about pilot mode and hitting the ignitor button. On mine it is one button that you push and release aftrer 30 seconds.

Little Buddy has one bottle, Big Buddy has two
Little Buddy screws to and sits on top of a bottle, Portable Buddy uses one bottle and Big Buddy has ports for two bottles.  ;)

It's a portable buddy with the one bottle screwed on to the side. I took some air and got the pilot to light, but now after holding it, t goes out. Almost seems that it's not getting fuel?

My Portable Buddy had a problem last winter and the burner wouldn't get hot enough to glow red. This summer the pilot wouldn't light. I took the regulator off,  tapped it on the table top and some pink colored powder came out of it. I put it back together and it works like it should now. Might be worth a try for you.
