Tricks of the trade: Trolling Flashers?
« on: Feb 22, 2007, 11:53 AM »
While out last week I noticed a few guys close to me who were also crappie fishing....they had what appeared to be trolling flashers tied on to their lines a few feet above there bait...anybody else use this method to lure the crappies in?

Sounds like a good idea.  We do the same thing when fishing for lake trout.

The only problem I could see would be that crappies bite so light that the weight of a flasher spoon might make you miss a hit entirely.  What do others think?

I like to go lite as possible dont think it would hurt, but agree w/Mcenvy you will miss lite bites ,in other words half the fish.

I was thinking of the same thing, using a Lake Clear Wobbler...Hmmmm, might be worth trying...

i've also heard of teams in lake-trout tournies fishing deep-water lakes that hold big fish that are few-and-far-between working in tandem, one man with a jig and a fish-finder, the other about 15-20 yds away with a long string of trolling dodgers that he drops to the bottom and quickly reels up, continuing this process over and over in order to attract the wandering lakers to the area of the jig nearby.
