Helix 5 deep water
« on: Mar 04, 2019, 08:50 AM »
Hi all had something come up yesterday that I cant seem to figure out. I was fishing earlier in the day in 40' FOW and could see my jig, but when we moved in the afternoon to 130+ FOW I could no longer see my jig when jigging. I changed nothing other than the lower limit on the settings to accommodate the deeper water. Did I miss something.  I have fished with this unit before in deeper water with no issues. Any suggestions?

What frequency was the transducer on? Try changing that next time, lower number is better for shallow water larger for deeper, if I remember correctly.

I did have it on the lower frequency, I did switch it to the higher frequency once, but wasn't patient enough to see if it mattered. I had the sensitivity cranked.

I've had to shut the unit off and on to remedy this issue but that usually fixes it.  Not exactly sure what is causing it.  I do lay the ducer on its side when I move from hole to hole but no idea if that has anything to do with it.
