Walleye in Central IA
« on: Dec 07, 2018, 05:25 PM »
All of my ice fishing is geared towards bluegill and crappie. But I keep thinking should I add walleye to the mix? Big Creek is not that far, but it's been years since I've been ice fishing there. I'm retired so time is not the issue.  I have a couple of ml action rods so I don't think that I would need to invest in more tackle.

So is the walleye fishing in Central IA decent or should I just stick to panfish?

I grew up in central iowa and still caught walleyes.  You can still use your panfish rods but prefer my medium action poles.  I'd suggest to get a few buck shots and go from there. Never hurts to try something new, makes you a better fishermen in the long run.

There are some lakes in central iowa that can produce limits if you can figure out their pattern.
