Can’t go wrong with a #4 or #5 tungsten jig with a mealworm or waxie. I also like a Swedish Pimple with the red flapper or small gold or silver and blue Little Cleo. Also small crappie jigs in pink, chartreuse or orange will work. I don’t fish specifically for brookies, but these work well for rainbows and browns. Mix it up, if something isn’t working, try something else.  By the way, that 1/8 ounce Kastmaster will work just fine for your targeted species. Good Fishing! Ski

Small jigging rap size 2 or 3 should work as well.

Vmc rattle spoon in UV color has always worked well for me. The two smallest sizes (forgot their weight) tipped with wax worms are what I’m usually using for brookies.

Small, dark crappie jig (like 1/16 oz) tipped with meal worm has brought in brookies for me before, in all sizes.  On the camera we have watched many hit-then-bite combos.  Even if the meal worm was beat off the hook and gobbled up, some additional jigging often brought a follow-up strike.  I know your question is about spoons/jigs, but we have also caught brookies dead sticking a piece of night crawler with a single kernel of corn.

Good luck and tight lines!

Dead stick or tip up with crawlers have always out performed minnows for me. But prefer jigging them. Also any flash spoon will work too. They are aggressive and not picky.

Leech pattern...
Interestingly I just tied these up the other day with thoughts of using them as a jig for trout.

I love the leech pattern...it catches everything. Those look killer. My only suggestion is to try tying a couple wayyyyy skinnier and have them available to use too :) Ive fished a lake that has brookies in it a lot, knew they were there but never caught them consistently. I could see a fish coming in on the bottom all the time, threw everything at them but couldnt get them to bite. Put on a leech pattern and started consistently catching  Brookies right on the bottom  :)

Not sure how to make them skinnier other than tying a straight strip instead of wrapping up the hook. Those are made with squirrel strip instead of rabbit so it’s already shorter hair. Otherwise I’ll be using a small weighted woolly bugger. One lake I fish always have rainbows with bellies full of water boatman/back swimmer beetles that over winter under the ice. I made a small jig to hopefully resembled them but is still durable.

Trout are not picky, a 1/32 lead jighead with #6 or #8 hook with pretty much any 1"-1.5"plastics you'd use open water for panfish

I would say brook trout around my parts aren’t picky either. they may slash at the bait and never get hooked, but they’re downright aggressive at times. Not just talking about the freshly stocked ones either.  Rll
