I was out yesterday and was on 13" in the main basin out of Vet's and Sunday up in NW Bay on at least that much and in both cases the bottom 4-5 was rock solid, clear ice. If I understand correctly the new ice is formed on the bottom of the existing ice so I'm assuming that the bottom ice has all been formed in the last two or three weeks after the snow melted?

I know things change quickly with the sun this time of year but the block of ice that was there yesterday is fairly substantial.

Man does it ever change fast.  I was out in north basin yesterday and measured 12 inches of ice early in am and checked same hole on way back in pm  and it was 9 inches.  That sun did a job on it; especially the top 3 inches.  Those pressure ridges that were solid last week are on the move and small ponds are forming around them.  Be extra careful if you do go out.  Look for access in shaded areas.  Shorelines are  opening up fast.

Fishing was OK.  Lots of small perch and small lakers.  Downsize if you want to catch lakers.  Got largest laker on tungsten jig ::)

I tell people all the time, including the guys I hunt with, to smile. We are, after all, having fun.

Shawn suffers from clinical depression so lakers do not make him happy.   ;D

It’s good he fishes with a doctor from Iowa to get him through these tough days.

Those rigs really work!  Limited last two times out.  Fun when you get a double and like the idea that you can use heavier line to real in the odd lake trout without donating an expensive tungsten jig or spending 30 minutes trying  to get the thing in.

Hey everyone. New to the forum. Was lurking the forum a while last night. Alot of great info on here. I ice fished lake george the first time last month and caught my first laker. Super awesome! I've been out on the lake again since and had better luck. I'm going to bring a friend of mine this Sunday for his first time on Lake George as well. We're going to be parking at Huletts park. How is the ice right now? I'm not familiar with the lake quite yet so I'm on the fence about bringing the 4 wheeler out there. Thanks in advance.

Here's some pictures of my first two lakers.

pressure crack at Hague was impassible last week without planks couldn't be too much better this weekend probably real wide was real sketchy last weekend you should be good on rogers watch out for weep holes and the ridge to north might have to go south go play it by year

How much snow did the Town of Lake George get?  We got 5-8 inches in the Indian/Blue area.

Thanks for the reply.  We are out here right now. Followed some quad tracks to an easy hop across the crack. Little gusty out here.

PK - 11", no snow.  Slush turned to ice...easy drag.
I'd rather be fishing...

Jigged up two shorts...20" & 21" in the AM, headed shallow for perch, kept 18 nice keepers.  Perch bite was good till the smelt took over.  All in all, ok day in the wind.

None Bill.  Ice is deteriorating though.  10-12" of honeycombed ice out in the deep water.

Fished out of vets this morning. Perch bite was on. Still 15" of ice but the access is going. It was tightened up this morning but with the bubblers either side it was getting water covered this afternoon. My brother got a 26" laker on a tungsten on 3# test. Be safe
