color of jigs
« on: Mar 29, 2011, 11:32 AM »
Just wonder if there are any colors for perch jigs you guys feel are go to colors. Like a color for sunny days or overcast. Just wondering if you had any preferences. Thank you.

Red usually, if not, gold for overcast/deep snow, silver if more light gets down there

Orange works best usually I also have jigs with two little spinners on them that work great to attract perch

Like some others on here, orange seems to be a hot color for me.  I usually experiment on the tip ups with different colored hooks and orange seems to be best with chartreuse a close second.  For pimples, flat gold or the black nickle/crushed ice colors.  Raps, chartreuse or the glow hot perch color.

I paint my own and have found the combination of a chartreuse base with a blast of orange near the hook works best for me. It looks like the color of a sunrise :o. Mid day I'll switch over to a more natural color like a watermelon pepper or a rootbeer flake, both with yellow dots.
