Haven't been to Wampum in a few years. It was re-opened to bluegills this year with a 15 fish limit and no size limit on gills. The limits are posted at the lake and in the IL fishing regs. Crappie, bass, pike, catfish, and gills exist. Used to do good at the edge of the weedline in about 9fow. Lots of dink gills, but there are some 10+ A friend of mine has an 11 1/2'' mounted from there. There is also a weed bed near the middle of the lake that yields some descent crappie. A lot of tip-up fisherman go for the bass also off the weed edges. Hope this helps, good luck and be careful.

I think your talking about Wampum Lake in Thornton near expressway.
Was there today 4-5 inches of ice probably fish it tomorrow.
I have caught northern pike, crappie, bluegill(usually small).
Havent fished lake in couple years but I was talking to fella that says the bluegills have gotten bigger.
This lake does close at dusk. Thats usually when it turned on.
I will find out tomorrow.
