Why would someone go out on the beach not too smart....
It's not that fishing is so important, it's just that so many things in life are so much less important

It didnt look safe from the road,  it honestly looked looked like floating slush to 400 yards out from shore

the ice was slushing up when i left i measured about 1.5-2inches of black ice and a couple inches of white ice but it was getting soft be careful with these warmer temps if you venture out!

Fished the backset for a little while then went to scope the beach out. As previously stated it is not safe...we did spud our way out to 11' and caught some dink perch and one northern. There is a section of ice that got blown around early on and it has only skimmed over with 1/2". I wouldn't go out on Delta with out a spud and picks especially with the warm temps coming.

Thought I would be smart by fishing up north. 2 dink perch and sketchy ice. Not a great day.

There is a snowmobile in about 12' of water.  Lucky the rider made it out OK.  Please remember that just because the guy in front of you hasn't fallen in, does not mean you won't!  Everyone please stay safe!

 >:( over the last 3 days of fishing out there i have seen most everyone wandering around like there is a foot of ice.when actually there is 1.5 to 2 of ice with 3 to 4 frozen slush.....only a few with picks and very few checking the ice with a spud. Ten yds behind the spot i had my shack I could poke my spud right thru with one wack. Slush areas have 1.5 inches of ice. Glad no body got hurt. We will be seeing it all again once the warm spell passes. Please be careful out there , no ice is safe ice!!!!!
well thats my rant about ice safety.... :callcops:

If it stayes like this, cold nights and warm days, it might do the lake some good...get rid of the snow and frozen slush.

Most likely the shore line ice will be shot, its not gonna get warm enough to ice out, never the less Delta will be a giant glass of chocolate milk for awhile which = really bad fishing...

You say chocolate milk I say turbid water. Sounds like I'll be either driving north or taking a weekend off....I think I'll drive north.

got out from 10-4. walked across the campground, then off the point at the state launch. had the spud and pfd. 3.5-4.5"of a mix of black and white ice. 2 northerns 24,26' on tip ups. 3 small perch jiggin. we drilled holes all day. fished in 6-15fow. slow fishin, beautiful day. there was ice erosion around some of the holes and .5" of slush on top. even tho there was nt much melting out there, there s not much to give away before it gets dicey(if it is nt already). too thin to walk out the beach, at least for my 230lbs. gettin my $ worth outta that spud.
