Fighting boredom
« on: Feb 04, 2023, 07:52 PM »
I'm too old to fish in howling.winds, I dont like it anyway i was looking for my buddy heater  and knocked over a pair of skis I've been meaning to turn into a smitty sled, the last one I built must be 10 years old, so when the skis hit me on the head I got even by making them into a smitty..I made this one to fit my medium nordic sled tub
I had everything  except  the 2X8 for the risers, I had a few.mods to do to the tub to fit my system,  of coarse when I'm on the wheeler  it's all a moot point, differant tub  ,I added a length of 2" PVC  with a bolt through it so I can use my kettle grill I use in the boat.. hot dogs for the derby!

Nice job and thanks for the inspiration. I’ve been meaning to make something like this for a while now ever since I saw Wayne’s setup on here which is quite nice if I recall. I always remember when I’m trudging through snow with a heavy sled and no clearance “gotta be a better way”. Looks great for pulling on foot. I can never drive by old skis in the trash I normally use them as sacrificial on my shanty.
How's the ice they all ask? "I’ll tell you what, you can get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a bull’s butt, but I’d rather take the butcher’s word for it."

That looks good, I've been thinking about making one myself.  This might just push me over the edge to do it.

For anyone interested in what my rocket launcher is made of, its 4," pvc downspout  tube, its light, flexible and cheap, I used the gutter clips, but screwed right through the gutter and clip tou can make the slot for the spool anchor with a N pair of shears or tin snips.

Now that's it's been tested, tonight it get a coat if soar urethain, I saw somewhere someone had painted each corner a different  color for ease in assembly,  I used to put a label, not easy to read in the dark, but i can tell red and blue
.
Am also going to add to "bicycle" hooks to the back so I can set my portable on it .

My ice fishing buddy just made a smutty s,ed and we used it this weekend. Worked well and you can attach a lot of things on the sides as he made it about 6” wider than the sled. Nice
