what kind of flag do you like

...and don't say the kind thats up :D  i mean like the material, size, and color . i ask because my wife bought me five jacktrap's for valentines day last year on sale and they have 4 differant colors and 1 is a bigbob and that flag is bigger too. also they are made of wool (pg stay away :D) and they seem to me to be too heavy the flags don't stand all the way up when they're wet or it's windy. i used laker's before, i can see those flags better; the orange. my buddy has black ones.he said he sees them better. how do you  guy's feel about them? thanks.

I use the Laker traps, and painted all my flags black, they stand out better for me in all conditions....

No wool for me if I do replace flags, I'll leave the wool for pikeguy....

What I like to use for replacement material is the heavy plastic outer bag from a military MRE meal...it sheds water, is flexible and is durable....the color is a lighter color than on the MRE's of old, the dark brown color was better for me....Esox

mine are around 2" x 3" and orange.....not sure about the material, but I know it's not cloth...nylon or vinyl maybe?   ???  I've seen the bigbob trap flags and man those are huge!!  buddy of mine has green cloth flags that show up pretty good.

I saw some that marsh had last winter he made from an old green/black chamois shirt....good ol mainer ingenuity.. :thumbsup:

I like the orange plastic flags on Frabill's thermal tip-ups.  I just wish the arms were longer when we have a lot of snow.

Blaze orange. About 5" square. You can make them from a hunting hankerchief, and attach them over your existing flag. They show up very well from long distances. A dark colored flag near shore is hard to see. A friend of mine has a set of Big Bobs, the flags my be a little heavy when wet, but the traps are so big I don't think that it's a problem.  :tipup:

Caroga Kid and I were fishing with some aliens. After a few rounds of tanglefoot the aliens gave us a piece of their
glow in the dark super refelctorfied space suits to use for flags!

Light weight, bright yellow/silver strip... ultra reflective.. water proof...

Nice flags ColdBum. I use the regular orange ones that come on the lakers and like them alot.

I took the smaller flags off my Lakers and put on 6x6 flags in Orange. I now have people in the parking lot honk when I get a flag because they are so easy to see.

I like the glow orange ones that come on most tipups.  However, I work for our state department of transportation and I was able to get some of the scrap reflective material that they put on highway signs.  The stuff is super durable and wont come off once it is stuck.  Should help when goind after ling at night.

I use orange vinyl. Stay away from cloth, nothing but trouble.

I have used the red and white reflective tape used on commercial trucks. I just fold it in half and stick it to itself. You can get it in the same places you get trailer lights and wiring.

I use the traditional flags that come on the polar tip-ups.  I add a strip of reflective tape to them for night time fishing.  When the flag is down the strip is horizontal.  When the flag is up, the strip is vertical.  Worked great last year for walleye and crappie after dark.

I put reflective tape on my flags as well.  I also use markers made from PVC, about 20 inches long, painted neon green with reflective tape on the top.  It very easy to tell when the flags are up at night... FLAG! :tipup:

The markers are also good for deterring drunken idiots on snowmobiles.  >:( ;)

Kid I went to school with almost lost his life to two cinderblocks with wire between them to hook his ski. He was in the ditch, the public right-of-way, completely within the parameters of the law when it happened. I guess the stupid effer didn't like snowmobiles in the ditch in front of his house. I don't remember for sure, but I think the guy was either criminally prosecuted or sued by the kids parents. Setting booby traps, even in your own home, is unlawful. :%$#!:

You cant set traps to hurt people, or damage their property!!

I just use the standard flag that comes on the tip up.  I have 1 frabill and 1 no name brand that looks just like the frabill.
I really like them both.  Neither have froze up on me.  That was my biggest problem before I got these 2 new ones.

I usually don't have a hard time seeing the flags after dark.
