Favorite/New walleye jigs....
« on: Nov 30, 2004, 01:05 PM »
So? What are your favorite jigs or what is new that you want to try?

I just picked up some new Hali and Nils Master jigs to try this winter. Last year I used moslty the Mepps Spinflex and Swedish Pimples. I'll post some pics of the new ones I got when I get some time to take a few pics.

one of my favorites for walleye on a tipup or deadstick or jigging rod is the GemNEye

I dunno if it is technically a jig or not, but I rely heavily on the Kastmaster for all my walleye needs.  Have had great success with them and like to stick with them on at least 1 or 2 rods at all times.

I want to try the nilsies this year, both the shads and minnows. Also the chubby darter and storms new jigging soft minnow. I'll always carry the good old jigging rap too, but some people say the nilsies have a more readily appairent profile at dark than the raps. I will hope to see this year.

Here is a pic of my Nils Master/Hali jiggers. The new hali jiggers are in the lower left.

I'll post pics of the others (Hali's jigs and Hali Marmasooka's) as soon as the batteries for my camera charge.   ::)

Slipbob...Thanks.
I think the Hali Jiggers are new this year. The action is going to be different from the Nils, so it will be interesting to see how they work. I don't usually have a problem with pike stealing them. The pike seem to like my perch jigs better for some reason. ::)

Here are my Hali's w/chains (not really walleye lures)

Here are my marmooska style Hali's.

Fine collection! I'm jealous...
And while hali's aren't technically walleye lures, they have worked for me in the past.

Bob-D and Hali-man :

Do you guys catch more Walleyes on the Hali's or do the Nils work out better? I fish for Walleyes often but where I fish they don't seem to have many for them. I need tools that may tip the odds in my favor... I have some of both of these lures but thought the Hali was only good for pan fish.

Do not underestimate the power of hali's!
If you're targeting walleyes definitely try all the swimbaits from different manufacturers. Buy a couple of each, tie them on, and practice swimming 'em... They are all different and require a different touch.

Hali-man :
What do you tip the Hali with when fishing for walleyes, minnow head, waxie, whole minnow hooked through the head or shiners?

I don't target walleyes with hali's. The couple I have caught with them were tipped with mousies while perching. The walleyes were probably perching too.
