look into rechargeable batteries like eneloop and a charger and battery cases (amazon) and a swim noddle to hold it up in the water. check the cost for the bag that holds it and the 12 hold sla battery too.
it should hold eight double a's and you will want another eight for back up probably depending on how long you fish and if you replace them each trip ect.
it is meant to scout for fish mainly. then you use your main sonar to fish them. some use it as a main sonar.

Have that combo.  Slick machine.  So easy to take out of the case to do hole hopping.  Once you find a suitable spot, slide it back in to utilize the big battery and transducer arm. A small foam pad under  the case will prevent it sticking to the ice. Operation on auto or set to your requirements, zoom feature.  Vertical graph makes more sense than flashers in my opinion. If the price is right, go for it.  How are returns at the bargain cave.  Can you turn the unit on in the store, to listen for the audible clicking of the transducer?

i THOT it was marked $239 with 50% off, but dug deeper to find it was 20% off $239, so roughly $200ish, the AA batteries kinda steered me away, it woulda been a second/backup unit for me

thanks!

before the price increase this season it used to be 200$ i believe.
if you had the batteries, you may have enjoyed it. i use rechargeable for every thing. i think that sonar is a little redundant tho.
