Hi!
Yes! Bought a pack from "Dick's Sporting Goods", 4 colors and with gold and red hooks in different sizes.
They really GLOW when you charge them up and for a long time.
On 01/05/08 fishing in 12 ft. of water here in Ct. with 3 tip-ups and a jigging hole. VERY SLOW fishing so I put on a Green Tiger Eye and tipped it with a couple of maggots. Jigged it about 2-3 minutes near the bottom then WHAM! a hit no set, again WHAM! a 2nd hit no set, WHAM! a 3rd hit and a hook-up. Fought the fish for 7 minutes and came up with a 22 inch Seeforellen Brown Trout at 6.8 lbs.
Found that the lure when jigged falls slow with a slight wobble to it.
All I can say is it worked for me!!
how much did u pay at dicks sporting goods?
If i'm not fish'n then i'd rather be turkey hunt'n [img width=100 height=80]

I picked up a pack of them to try as well.  They were 10 bucks for 15 jigs at dicks.  There are 5 size 6 hooks, and 10 size 8 hooks in 5 diff colors.   They look like a nice hook to drop down w a minnow for eyes and pike.

Hey Snohiker!

Glad to hear that the tiger eyes worked as well for you as they have for me.
Wish they had a bit of tungsten in them so they would sink a little faster.
Think I'll put a couple of turns of fly tying lead wire behind the head and coat it with some nail polish the same as the head color. Might work. Will let you know how it works.

regards,

I just checked out their link, they are neat looking jigs I think a lot of fish species would like them.
I bet they would be really good for night walleye and burbot. :)

Which color of tiger eyes seems to glow the longest?

WW

Hi WW!
I purchased the pack which has 6 different colors/different size hooks/gold and red hooks.
The Green and White Glow seem to hold their glow better, but I haven't given the other colors a fair going yet.
But, that's my opinion.
Your question is a good one thought!!!!!!!
Think I'll string all the different colors on some line, hit them with UV light equally and hang the string in the aquarium in the dark and see which ones are the brightest, and time them for which ones glow the longest.
Do it yourself also.
Let's compare our results, Oh! Lets make sure we both hit them all equally with light for say a full 2 minutes.
Then pop them into a tank in the dark.
Should be interesting to see what the result are.

Best regards

Hey snohiker and WW!
Well I did the glow experiment I mentioned in my last post.
Here's what my results where.
The white and green held their glow only a bit longer than the pink, orange, and red.
They all started their glow at about the same intensity.
Took over an hour for the glow in all to really start to fade.
That's the results I got, so I'm satisfied.
Now it's up to the fish which color they like best.

Neat results in the glowing experiment.
There are no tackle shops around here that carries them, I was just interested if I ever did see any which ones would glow the longest.
Now it's up to the fish to see what color they like. ;)
I bet walleye would like them.

I got them hoping to use them for eyes.  Haven't had time lately to try them out for eyes.  Rain has made my eye fishing locations sketchy at best, but the pickerel sure do like em.  They like just about anything tied to a rope though.

I bought some directly from the company. They came in just a few days. If what the other guys are saying about buying them at Dicks I think you are better off, I think Dicks is cheaper and also you don't have to pay for shipping.Haven't tried them yet buy they look great.

Saw this on some Gamakatsu hooks and thought I'd try it.
Get some spawn sack mesh (I used pink)
cut a very small piece about the size of your little fingernail.
Tie one corner of mesh on with thread just behind the head of the jig. (Hook up)
Coat only the thread with some fingernail polish hardner.
Trim mesh so it only extends back to just before the hook point.
Take your favorite scent putty and mold a tiny bit onto the shank of the jig hook and then press the mesh down and around the putty. Mesh helps to hold the putty in place longer.
Tried it yesterday before the game.
Caught 4 trout (12-17 in.) in 1 hour using the hot pink glow jig.
