I run braid with mono or flouro leaders when fishing deep.
I have reels loaded with Fireline Ice, spiderwire and power pro.
For perch i would run some 4# braid with a flouro leader.

gamma esp 3lb the coil in the line has to do with the weight of the jig if the jig and line are not balanced it wont hang straight and it wont look good

Braid with fluoro leader, length of leader dependent on water clarity.

I use fireline Ice.

It will get you deep and allow you to feel the slightest tick on the line.

I fish 30 to 40 feet deep with it on a regular basis.

Attach it to something, walk off 50ft of line and stretch it. Coils gone

Whoops. Hold the line in your hand. Don't stretch it with the rod & reel.

all the following 2#

Asso Ice Heavy has been phenomenal for me...I haven't used much of it...it's rather expensive but it helps to sink a light jig faster and is resists line coils.

Gamma Flourocarbon has been good for me as well, if you can get over how the line springs off the spool.  The line straightens out very well in the down the hole.

Gamma ESP ice, soft and will straighten out even with light jigs.

Fireline Microice, lowest stretch for the most responsive hook set and bite detection (as long as it's not an upbite).

I have gone almost exclusively to #2 fire line crystal, tipped with 4lb fluorocarbon for my deep water applications, many spots approaching 50 feet. feel is awesome. hardly ever loose a fish at the hole because of bad hookset. have not tried  Heavy ice yet but will now.
just trying to whack a couple of walleyes

I,ve been using braided line and fluorocarbon leaders on both, my panfish rods and my laker rods for three years
now and my hookup rate has gone way up and my lost fish rate, way down ! ;D I use Berkley trilene fluorocarbon
and it doesn't fray, even with big trout dragging it back and forth in the hole.

Just tried 4# trilene xl in red with my med-light action rod with small jigs. Its coming off immedietly, coiled up. Not sure what to try next.

I run the same thing.

With or without the leader you don't have the coil problem
