Best all around jig?
« on: Dec 05, 2009, 06:23 PM »
Lets hear what your best all around jig is. Whats the jig you can count on day in day out to catch a variety of fish? Not chubby darters and rapala type lures, just jigs.

Mine has to be a size 6 pale yellow bibbet or a small white swedish pimple.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable,
a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

love all 5 of these and if there are gills or perch below they will bite.  i always  put a small plastic tail of some sort on all of them either threaded on or wacky style coupled with waxies or spikes.

1.wolfram epoxy 4mm in black glow spot or green glow spot
2.marmooska orange/chart.
3.marmish fat ant green
4.custom jig n spin gillpill in frog
5.northland gill getter in glow red

I use the smallest size Ratso by custom jigs and spins  in glow or white for gills, crappie and perch in shallow water. For deeper water I use smallest swedish pimple in Nickle with only the red flake.I'll tip either of these with waxworms, but the ratso will catch fish without bait,so I tend to use these more often.I also had success last year with panfish assasins in a 1 1/4 in. size on a jighead.Occasionally I'll use jigging raps tipped w/ waxies.

I will always start with the buckshot rattlin spoon. This always calls the fish in. Then i see how they react. Sometimes they take it. or i will tip it with waxies or minnow head. if still nothin, then i also go to the diamonds or the ratso's. still nothing?, then the nuclear ants. if i dont get nothin then, i move!

Just ordered some crippled willows from jammin' jigs, hopefully they produce this year. Anybody else try them?

For medium size fish Williams ice jig in half&half nu-wrinkle finish.
Also swedish pimples sized to the type of fish your targeting.
