Must have been a blast trying to get him to the hole. Here in WI. we can only fish for sturgeon in sept. Where are you that there's a winter season? I'd love to try it through the ice. My personal best is 63 inches.

MN has a season that is open most of the year, it will close on the Croix March 1st until June something. Actually WI waters of the Croix, Mississippi and Lake Superior are open to Sturgeon fishing right now too.  But for ice fishing you'd realistically only have the Croix and Chequamegon Bay as I'd be leary of the ice anywhere on the Mississippi that I've caught Sturgeon
