Little Camas
« on: Dec 07, 2011, 07:25 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has looked at the ice on Little Camas yet, been pretty cold up there lately. It had good carryover of fish and water and they stocked the crap out of it for the last 2 years

I went up there to check it out about a week and a half ago and besides a little ice by hyw 20 it wasn't frozen.  I am going to check back on it in a week and a half when I get back to Idaho.

I can see your focus is on the game and not on what you're posting up. Since we have no limit on perch, would you mind just givin' us a small clue as to what species you caught, like 50 brookies, or a dozen smallies. Rogers is "The Man", just has to beat Brady and Bellacheat. Go Pack!

Idahogator, I'm pretty sure he was referring to 2 limits of trout since I don't think there are any perch in Little Camas. There are (or used to be) small mouth bass in there.

Sorry on the last post, Yes, the fish that we caught are all trout. Nice pink meat, and built like a football, not a snake.

Please pardon my tomfoolery. Just know, I really enjoy hearin' about nice catches and now I'm seein' a dozen footballs in a wash-tub.    :woot: :roflmao:
Those larger than planters with pink meat are tasty. Ever tried smoking some of those?

Yes, anything under 16" gets smoked with alder wood. Got to get these done by the weekend for more snacks on the ice.

Do they stock little camas as a feeder for the south fork? if not, it looks like they are trying to establish it and must not plan on drawing it down...168000 trout stocked in 2011

They just stock it heavily.  Back in the day it was one if the best trout fisheries in the area.

Went to Camas today. Fished from 12-4pm. Between three of us we caught around 20. Missed at least that many. The bite was super lite. Fish averaged 12-14 inches but were nice and chunky.
The Ice is good and solid. 5-6 inches thick.

I see there has not been any recent posts.  Would like to take a short trip this Friday.  Now that we are into mid February, anyone know how the fishing and ice conditions are right now at Little Camas?
