Red River Channel Cats
« on: Nov 30, 2015, 08:20 PM »
I was wondering if anyone fishes for the Cats during the the Ice season. I know that it's famous during the summer time but what about the winter? I've seen videos on YouTube for the Red River in North Dakota through the Ice but I didn't see any for Manitoba. Thanks David

I think they are mostly incidental catches here in Manitoba during the winter. It's been more prevalent the last few years but I don't think people actually target them here in the winter. (just my observation)

Thanks, I'd still love to catch some, especially if they are as big as the open water Cats.

my dad got on a hot streak for em a few years ago. big spoon loaded with minnows and would just pound bottom and mud up the water right on the edge of the main channel 20-25' caught a few the one week, would give it a try when the walleye slowed down.
