RIDING MOUNTAIN
« on: Feb 03, 2011, 01:17 PM »
Does any one have any information for fishing Riding mountain?   would like to know if it's worth going there, obviously access would be a problem for me with a car, so would have to be close to road.

any help would be great.  Thanks
Jacques

not 100% sure on Riding, but if you have time head up to the Duck Mountains. The fishing can be deadly up there.

Depends on the fish you want to target.

For rainbows, splake and brook trout I like Gull lake and Shilliday lake

For the good Pike lakes you need a sled to get to other than Singush Lake has done well in the past.

Lake Trout you can hit East Blue and Laurie Lake.

East blue has nice rainbows too, two mile as well for rainbows. singuish has bass, perch and walleye too but i'm sure you can get jack there.  I caught a jack on chicken there once!  Hungry little buggers!

Even if you don't catch you will really enjoy it up there.

As at any of the lodges up there and I'm sure they can say where they are bitting, what to use, etc.

Jacks and Picks near frith beach, you can walk to the patch no problem.  You require a Riding Mountain National Park fishing permit, $9 a day or $36 for a year, you can get that during buiness hours at the park admin building in Wasagaming.  No snowmobiles except on Clear Lake for ice fishing only.

Good luck with Lakers on East Blue. They are there, but few and far between.
Glad Lake or Childs would be better choices.
