Good luck!  Let us know how you do and whether you see any machines on the ice.  We're hoping to get on Lake Erie soon.  It sure was great fishing there last year.

3 guys were out on quads on friday 3 p.m. the only dark spots I could see were towards pinehurst, but could have been pine trees. Working until next weekend so I won`t be out.

Hopefully some ice thickness reports, etc. will come in. There are 25 trucks at hamburg. Guys are way out from Pinehurst. Looks like 5 miles off the beach. Might be same area we fished last year from Sturgeon. Just could make out that light house in Canada. Have to grab the quad from cabin, and get a day off from work!! Thought I`d be on Chautauqua first this year. Looks like next sunday for me. :'(

I have a question for you Erie guys. I just sold a sled to a Canadian border patrol guy and he tells me that a lot of his buds go out of Crystal Beach and they have been out for a little less than a week there. Says they are doing good too and only a mile to mile and a half  walk. My question is why don't I hear more about this. Seems easier than Sturgeon if you have your passport and/or enhanced license. It actually is a little less of a drive for me coming from Rochester too. I have seen quite a few shows for perching there during open water and also fish the area myself for eyes and bass in the summer but nothing about ice fishing.

You need a CDN license. Also the beer costs a lot more in the great white north eh? Plus there's stray hockey pucks flying all over the place.  ;D

;D ;D Got the license. What about bait. It would be funny having them confiscate my mousies at the border.

I  ice fished off Crystal Beach for many years, right off to the side of the Comet Roller Coaster. EXCEPT used to use small Rapala Jigs that always worked better than live Minnows. There is new boat  lāunch there, right where the long pier was. You can use Google Earth and see it. You also will find perch  āt  Pt. Albino by they Yacht Club

You can try the Harbor at Colburn  There was Always a bait shop in Fort Erie along the river, who knows now..? Things change quickly over there. I would get salted bait here in the USA just incase. Go to the Canadian Board on Ice Shanty, in the Ontrio section, and try to connect with someone who is from FT Erie about the bait.

Hope this helps

John .. You forgot to mention that the guy in the silver Nissan or Toyota that came in last yesterday broke all the markers on his way in. The flag on the beach also disappeared. "Whiskey Mike" was pretty upset today discussing how a 70 yr old Mr. Setlock can bust his @ss to blaze a trail through that hellacious 1st mile of shove ice and 1 guy can erase all that effort. Fortunately the guys today got it re-marked on our way in otherwise it would have been a lot harder to find our way back.

Nice fish Youngblood. I drove down to Hamburg this morning around 9am but didn't have a parking pass so I avoided the ticket and went to sbh. Caught 22 perch 21 of them were under 5in. I'm really hoping sturgeon locks up soon. Happy fishing
