You did what I would do! Got them mounted in a habitat scene! Two fish of a lifetime. These boys will be preserved for a lifetime. NIce job catching, and it looks like your taxidermist is a quality guy as well. You should be very proud of these, as I am sure you are! Thanks for sharing the photos.

Beautiful mount! That's one of the nicest I've ever seen. If you don't mind me asking what did that set you back?

Does the fact that he now has to walk to work tell you anything? ;)

Holy canoley, Gamedog! Your on ice pictures look like advertisements for Carharts!
Very nice mounts!!!
-
My taxidermist charged $10 per inch including the drift wood, cabbage and perch. 88" worth of fish=$880. Thanks for the compliment , I love the finished product. It was a trip of a lifetime ;D
Worth every penny! 8)

What part of the lake were you fishing Gamedog? I have been fishing Ft. Peck every year since 1995. Usually go early in February for 10 to 14 days. Last two years fished Snow Creek but was too early last year. Was there from about Feb 4th till the 14th but had horrible weather. Cold front stacked on top of cold front. Still caught some very nice fish but the fishing was very slow. This years trip will be towards the end of February. I have fished Hell Creek, Sutherland, Snow Creek, Nelson Creek, the UL Bend and North Rock Creek in the past. Would like to try Devils Creek but I am afraid to go down into that hell hole with my 24' camper. Probably will just go into Hell Creek this year and take some long runs on the four wheeler to get away from the crowds. Have always done well out around Petersons Point and that long shoreline back towards Snow Creek. Nice fish and congrats. The scary part is, there are Pike in that lake much bigger than that.

Those are some awesome fish, great looking mounts. Congrats! We used to fish Crooked Creek and Hell Creek alot and pulled out several in the 15 to 20 pound range. Pretty awesome watching the kids pull big pike thru the ice. Need to make a trip back up there. Later KR

Nice work Gamedog. If anyone in the state will land the next state record I'm sure it will be someone in your crew. I've seen a few posts of fisherman landing 20 lbs. catfish through the ice on FP. Have you ever caught some big catfish while targetting big pike?

The last fish I had mounted cost me $12 per inch.
You get what you pay for. Do some research, and people will tell you who is good and who to avoid.
Hope this helps,
Wiener

(http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u36/unsie/PIKETRIP002.jpg)(http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u36/unsie/PIKETRIP001.jpg) Finally figured this picture ho haw out. Anyways here's my last fish caught on the ice this season. She went 45" and weighed 25lbs. Believe it or not, the fish I caught before this went 43" and weighed 22lbs. Combine these with 4 others from 9-15lbs , it was truly an awesome trip  My taxidermist said the bigger one had a 18" carp in her belly. Pretty good size bait eh? I've been trying for 12+ years for a 20lb Northern for the wall. Well needless to say, this was a VERY expensive ice fishing trip

That's a great mount man. I am still waiting for my trout to come back from last year. Can't wait. He charged me 12 dollars per inch. $348 for one trout... It better be nice!!!
