Balloon strips for plastics?
« on: Jan 23, 2014, 12:23 PM »
I had someone tell be that he knows someone who buys cheap rubber balloons and cuts them into strips and tips his jigs with that for bluegills. Seem like it might actaully work pretty well. Has anyone else tried this?

Nope, but appreciate the subtle aspects to it. Occasionally still cut the tails off used Bass Tubes (Wedgee/Whip types) and slit the body open to flatten it and cut "critters" (Maki types) with an X-Acto knife. Was one of the few ways to get plastics until recently.

No but used chena bait a few yrs back and it worked pretty good, lively action.  Got it from somewhere in Wisconsin mail order.

It works very well at times like any thing else. Take your balloons and blow them up and tie off. Leave blown up over night to get the rubber really strecthed out for very easy movement. Take a very sharp knife our a razor blade and slowly cut to the shape you want....Length and width ... Good luck  Steve
