Answer my question

(1/1)

Buster:
has anyone out there used solar panels? If so could you tell me what kind of setup you use?  ???

R:
Actually, I have thought about it, but it could get pretty pricey.

I was surfing the net and came across this site:

http://www.rain.org/~philfear/how2solar.html

It tells you how to make a solar power generator for under $300 dollars. It gives a pretty decent setup.

Also, there are packages that you can buy for R/V's and such which, I think would suit an iceshack very well.

The next site has more solar power supplies, and it has a technical discussion forum, which should answer some of your questions pertaining to solar power.

Hope this helps,

HarryG:
I have never used a solar panel, but I know of a few people who have.  They help out a lot.  They guy I knew fished every day and did not have a problem.  He had a gas light, so he did not have a lot of power drain, but he did have a TV.  I have seen a 3amp charger for about $50, and I have seen more expensive models as well.  I think it would be worth $50, but if you fish a lot, more would be helpful
Good Luck!

My dad bought one for his house from Northern Hydrolics.  It is a smaller one that he has connected to his battery.  It keeps the battery at full charge all season.  They will be able to help you get the right one that will suit your charging needs.
