vt tip up laws help
« on: Mar 01, 2015, 09:39 PM »
A little help please. I'm in Vermont, going to fish up here for the next few days. Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction as where to find information about how many devices I can use? And, do I need my name, address or phone number on them? Can I use jaw jackers?
I can't find it anywhere online thanks!

I guess there's certified bait laws and carry the receipt, too?

It says right on the slip. Valid for 96 hours after time of sale.        ....................I mean really now. :o

He doesn't have the receipt yet to read the instructions...
Yes all of that is correct hardwater, 15 lines if you are on champlain. You don't need to label your tipups but you do need to have all your contact info on your portable shanty, even if you are inside.  That is actually being enforced this year.

Gotta love those jaw jackers. I love mine.
I do all types of fishing; but I am Die hard Ice angler.
I love Ice Fishing the lakes of Rutland County. Recently moved to NY and now will be Ice fishing the Lakes Of New York.

Have you used yours yet? I see just yesterday you were asking how many you could have out at a time.

I definitely used them a few times. You can set them so sensitive that you a smelt whould trip them off. And I also caught lots of Perch You definitely get more hookups

Hey guys:   From the main IS page there seems to be a "jawjacker"  shortage nationwide.  If ya want one this year and can find one, ya better get it.  Or make your own.

If you are fishing Seymour or Avrill lakes, you can only use 4 lines.
Jackers are legal.
Also, yes you can use the bait for 96 hrs after sale, but ONLY for the water body you have written on the slip. in the case of a last minute change of plan, You would have to buy more bait if changing the pond your fishing. Hope this makes sense.

Fellas, lets be real here... The laws in Vt aren't as cut and dry as they used to be, and C.O.'s (for the most part) and not as lenient as they used to be either. I think he was just asking for some verification on how he interpreted the reading. If I was not familiar with the Vt laws, I would have a hard time understanding the hoops to jump through to stay inside the lines as well.

Thanks guys. I had fun in the deep snow up there. Good thing my friend had snowshoes I could use!

NHHardwater- those jawjackers u made are awesome!

I give you guys credit up there for dealing with that much snow on top of the lakes. If it was like that down here, I definitely wouldn't be going fishing everyday. It's exhausting.
