Hey all.

Hope all had a great holiday season and your looking forward to a great New Year!!

Got a chance to get out and do some fishing yesterday. Few pics of the sled loaded up
with the Power auger and my new Ice fishing " Rod Gloves"
Check out these " Rod gloves" sized for soft and hard fishing rods. My Rods don't get all tangled up
by in the back of my vehicle now.

Happy New Year to all of you!
...

WoW!!  WoW!!  I have to tell Ya " BB "   WOW!!

My family and friends can tell Ya that with my A.D.D. there are not tooooo many times that I'm speechless ....
But ... but ... that is exactly what happened when I saw your sled. So much went through my brain at that moment...

The first second I saw your, I immediately started to think of what I could have done a little different to my own sled.
But as you said of yours... Mine was also my first prototype.

As far as me " Inspiring " you. Thanks... but, like I have said several times through my some my posts... I did not event anything out of the blue.

So many people have written me and asked me to draw them something... And you sad in your comment exactly what I have ben saying. "Get the time and inspiration and then design and make something that SUITS you!
Make the rack with what you think you need it for.

I am very impressed with your sled. I love that place where you have put your Eskimo Ice Auger. ( I believe it looks like a Eskimo Ice Auger) ( and if it is you need to check out SurfLizzard's " Mo" thread on here.
http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=152698.0   When I first tried to mount my Auger that i show in one of those last pics... it was brought to my attention that I had my Auger too high and I agreed as soon as it was pointed out to me. That is what is also great about this forum, we share our thoughts.

But getting back to your sled... LOL ... Sorry got side tracked.. LOL  As I was saying.. I like where your Auger motor is mounted, and I have been think of getting a heater down the road.

Your ( as you called it) pro-to type is Awesome.. Maybe down the road think or a Hard removable handle for the towing Bar. I used the rope the first two years and I like my handle now (which someone else posted there pice that gave me the idea for it)

Yup !! Said it before.. I really love this site and forum... it is filled with all kinds of folks that have no problem in sharing there experience and thoughts to help promote a sport that is great.

Hey Broadstbullie ! I can hardly wait to see your next Phases.. Please make sure you keep us posted.. Please

Ok ... ok .... LOL ... i'll stop typing now. ( sorry I just started to type and holly  man it seemed to go on for ever ... LOL)

 Take Care " BB "

Keep us posted!!!   Don't know if this letter make any sense as I woke up 2:00 am and started to write this after my third cup of COFFEE!!... So ... Yes I am probably a little sleep deprived and a little wired at the same time ... LMAO!

Great job on the sled broadstbullie, as Alta said, I also like the bracket for the auger power head ! Sure does look like an Eskimo from here !  ;D

Side note: You and her( I meant the auger, you really need to name her Alta !) will be fine with a good night rest !  ;D

I'm so jealous of those sleds!!  I still have my old kids sled with a plastic tote and milk crates. Problem is it isn't very wide so gets top heavy and tips over on uneven terrain. I will have something like those next year. ;D

Thanks AltaIce for the kind words.

I wanted something that would break down and fit in my car when the truck wasn't available.....like sneaking out after work for the evening fish bite at Ghost...lol

I used bolts with wingnuts on the first joints so the top comes apart to fit in the back seat and sled in trunk. Im using aircraft cable with plastic coating for my pull rope...lol

Few more tinkering mods to go, but sure worked well for its maiden voyage.

why do you have a buoy on the sled?

I'll answer that, cuz honestly I think it was brilliant when i saw it. That bouy is attached to a break away rescue line to throw to someone who might have fallen through the ice.
I don't think that there are too many people that have given as much thought and thought for saftey and the possibility of helping other people as AltaIce has/and does.
My hat was off to him last year.. before he improved it even more.

Doh, well that makes sense. Never even though of that. I was thinking he was marking his spots through his holes so he wouldn't lose it when he drifted away.

.......................................................................
Hi " vancouvercanuck "
Thanks for asking about the BUOY,....... and as far as marking that great fishing spot....  "All I do is... Spray paint the spot with a big black " X " in the snow... So when I come back next year ... I'll know exactly where I caught all those fish, and where the HOT Spot was."
...................... ...................... ...........

Well what can I say?   " shackless "

You explained it very well and probably way better than I could have... and I have to say ... YOU said it in less words that I could have. ( That I know.... and i think you would all agree ... LOL ..

(Handshake) Thank you Shack for the explanation and also for the kind words. I have not done anything that other folks have not already done in someway or other.... I .... I ... just decided to do them all at one time on a little Mini Otter 2 Ice Fishing Sled.. LOL ...

Remember ... having the buoy on the sled that can be taken off fast , with a fifty foot rope and the right weight.... is only half the battle... staying calm enough to throw the dang thing is another thing and to have the right aim, maybe another part of the battle. One never knows how he will throw that last pitch at the bottom of the last inning, while the game is tied.

  Thanks again "Shack"

Take care

Hey " BB"

Good day eh!!
How do you like your Big buddy ( Mr. Heater)? ( Not that I have room for one in my sled, but I think my next thing will be some kind of heater system.

I forgot to mention before .. I like the fact that you have a larger chair also . Not sure about you but I am at that age where it is near impossible to get my bones to sit that LOW on those little Tri-pod stools!!... LOL... Let alone get up fast if I get a bite.

Wishing you and yours a great NEW YEAR!

I know I have a major addiction to ice fishing but sleeping with the auger is over the top.  LOL   Then again I'm sure it wouldn't take it's half out of the middle of the bed or my half.   ;D

  Morning "Shack"

Long time no talk too. Hope all has been going well.  Sounds like you may have had a awesome summer, if your working on your boat today. Congrats on the new boat.

Ya, I had a little bucket of water on the deck last night. Average skim of ice on it.  Soon … Brother …. soon.

    Good to hear from you.

Do these things get a little top heavy? Don't they become sails on the ice?

P.S. I think these are great guys.

Hi Vancouvercanuck.

Yes, I see what you mean. It can or could be a little top heavy . With mine. i put so much heavy stuff at the bottom it is not as top heavy as one might think. But at any angle that is to far for it's height. i guess there will always be a tipping point some where.
As far a becoming sails on the Ice .. LOL.. Yes, i guess so. But I have hooks for the ice to hook onto it. But i have also seems people chase there Tackle boxes across the windy Ice.  LOL
thank you for your nice comments.
